Couple of hours ago there was a sudden boom in the technology world when an anonymous twitter account claimed Dropbox hack in a tweet. “BREAKING NEWS: We have just compromised the @Dropbox Website http://bit.ly/1cMlbvt  #hacked #compromised”

About an half hour after this tweet Dropbox replied on their business blog, they seem to be denying that they were hacked. They said that

We have identified the cause, which was the result of an issue that arose during routine internal maintenance, and are working to fix this as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.[/quote_simple]. Moreover Dropbox also called TechCrunch to ensure them that they were not hacked.

Moreover its also seems true that Dropbox was not hacked as another group of hackers called “The 1775 Sec” also claimed that they hacked Dropbox and they also successful to stole a list of email ids from Dropbox. Which they later posted on pastebin.

In addition, the 1775 Sec also claim that the hack was done in honor of fallen internet activist, “Aaron Swartz”. At the moment Dropbox is working fine and you can have check if you own an account there.
