Chromebooks have many advantages. You don’t need to worry about viruses or updating your OS or loosing that pesky code number to reinstall an application, or back-up your files. I’ve been saying for years that most people don’t need a full-fledged OS when all you do is browse and write a document here and there. For most users an OS is a source of headaches: will my Windows 7 boot up next time? (my Windows 7 crashed here and there for 4 months and still does from time to time). The perfect OS for these users is the one you don’t even know the name. Your post is off the mark in many issues. Privacy, for example. The day you installed an OS or an application you have not written and connected your computer to the Internet, you gave up privacy.

A great write up, i always wondered why anyone will want to use an OS that is only internet based with no control over updates. I wonder how safe it could be and its compatibility issues is another area of concern. thanks for the heads up though…
