at the empty space of the screen, long press the screen.
it will bring up a dialog window.
select “add application and widget”
go to widgets tab.
you can add a “direct all”, “direct sms” or “single contact person”.

here you are.

My wife and I just switched from the iphone to note 3… and all we want to do is to be able to hit a number in our contact or favorites list and dial, not go through a mult-step process just to dial someone… we can find a short cut, setting, anything, anywhere.. any help would be appreciated.
