We all love to sit back, relax and turn on the TV as soon as we get free from our hectic daily routine. As much as we love enjoy watching TV, there are always some days when you don’t get the time to watch your favorite shows on TV and unlike on internet, you can’t save or download your favorite shows to watch them later. That’s why YouTube has announced a live TV service. Of course a person’s not in control of what shows on TV and when, there’s a specific time for each show and if you miss one, you have to wait for it to repeat. Keeping that in mind, the YouTube TV is a live streaming service which includes cable TV entertainment as well as the original YouTube content.

What is YouTube TV?

YouTube TV is basically just like cable TV except the fact that it’s live TV and you can save your favorite shows to watch later once you get the time to. YouTube offers a total of 40 channels and might add a few more later on. Until then the basic package is priced at $35.

YouTube TV directly competes with Cable TV and other providers like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue and DirecTV all offering different features in different price ranges with the lowest at $20 for Sling TV.

Features offered by YouTube TV

YouTube TV has a lot of features to offer including;

Cloud with unlimited storage

This is an amazing feature, you can save your shows for later and unlike many of the YouTube TV competitors, you don’t have to worry about storage since YouTube TV offers unlimited storage space. You can save content or live TV up to 9 months in the Cloud.

6 user profiles with separate sign-in.

YouTube allows 6 accounts per membership with independent Cloud storage (of course unlimited). Each account can be signed in with different password making YouTube TV membership more secure, easy & friendly.

Compatible with Chromecast, Laptops and both android and IOS devices.

If you’re TV has an inbuilt Chromecast, YouTube TV will be compatible with your TV. If not, don’t worry it’s also available on Android and IOS devices. So you can save and watch your favorite shows on the go.

Channels offered by YouTube TV & availability.

So far we’re certain about only 44 channels, but the number of channels might increase later on. The channels offered by YouTube TV are generally news, media, sports & entertainment. However, many of the mainstream channels such as Comedy Central, Discovery and others are missing. YouTube however has said that they are in talk with other channel providers to include in the channels list. Nonetheless YouTube TV would also offer YouTube Red shows & movies as well as online content.

While the whole concept sounds promising, the availability of YouTube TV raises questions. Unlike its competitors, YouTube TV won’t launch nationwide, it’ll be available only in a few selected cities yet to be confirmed. But we’re optimistic about YouTube expanding its services to more cities.

What do we think of the YouTube TV?

YouTube TV is definitely cheaper than cable and offers much more. But in terms of channels and availability, cable is far more ahead but that doesn’t make YouTube TV any less interesting. YouTube is trying to add more channels & if they do, the price would still remain the same so considering that the YouTube TV still has a couple months before launching, we’re optimistic that YouTube might add a couple new channels and we’re also sure, YouTube would expand its services to more cities.

But anyway it’s safe to try since you can cancel whenever you want to.

Clear Play Store App Cache:

Clearing Google Play store app cache resolves no connection error in some cases. Cache temporarily stores the data which helps you to quickly access the app when you open it next time. It just makes the app to load quicker and clearing the cache will do no harm.

Here are the steps to clear the cache

Go to Settings and open the apps section.

Choose “All” apps and then find Google Play Store app.

Tap on the play store app and then tap on “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data”

Check Date and Time Settings:

Google Play store app synchronizes time and date with their servers so it is necessary that you have correct time and date on your phone. Lot of users are facing no connection issue because of incorrect date and time settings. To make sure your date and time settings are correct and time zone is properly selected go to settings > Date & Time and select Automatic Date and Time or manually set the date, time and time zone.

Login/out of your Google account:

Logging out of your Google account and then signing in again may do the trick.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Google.

Select your Google account and tap on “Remove account” in top right corner.

Restart your Smartphone and then enter Google account email and password again by going to Settings > Accounts > Add Account.

If you have changed your Google account password on your PC then you need to update it on your Smartphone as well. Logging in/out will update the password and will help Google Play app to function properly.

Uninstall Updates:

If the above fixes doesn’t work for you then try going back to the original version of the Play store app (the version which was first installed on your device). Sometime new updates don’t go well with your phone so uninstalling these updates may solve the connection issue. Go to Settings and find Google Play Store app and then tap on “Uninstall Updates”.

Delete or Edit Hosts file:

If your device is rooted then there is a simple fix which works most of the time. Open file manager and go to system/etc/hosts and open Hosts file. Insert the # symbol before second set of IP addresses (change from 127.0.0.1 to #127.0.0.1) Restart your phone, remove Google account, and add it again and problem will be solved. If editing the hosts.txt file doesn’t work then try deleting the hosts.txt file.

Factory Reset your Phone

If all of the above mentioned tips doesn’t work for you then it’s time to do a Factory Reset of your phone. Factory resetting will clear all data so make sure to have a backup of all your contacts and other important data before performing factory reset.

Go to Settings > Backup & Reset > and then tap on “Factory Data Reset” to reset your phone to the original condition.

For all Google Talk lovers, there is a bad news.Today Google’s Product Manager for Google Voice and Hangouts, Mayur Kamat, has announced that Google Talk app for Windows will be deprecated on February 23, 2015. It doesn’t mean that Google Talk will not work anymore after February 23. It will still work but it will stop receiving updates and may break(stop working) any time in the future.
Kamat Says:

For some time now, our team has shared that we plan to focus our efforts on Hangouts. The Google Talk app for Windows will be deprecated on February 23, 2015. This will allow us to focus on bringing you the most robust and expressive communications experience with Google Hangouts.

However third party apps like Pidgin, Trillian etc and all other compatible apps will continue to work.
Kamat:

If you’re not ready to make the switch to Hangouts quite yet, you can continue using Google Talk on Windows with a range of compatible third-party chat apps (http://goo.gl/FSbCX5). Please keep in mind these aren’t Google products, so exercise caution when signing in with your Google account.

As there will no more updates to the Google Talk app and it may stop working anytime in future, so it might be the best time for you to move to Hangouts by using Gmail or chrome app. Google says that it is focusing on making Hangouts better. Lets see it can keep Google Talk users satisfied with Hangouts or not…

The US search engine, Google, has come under pressure from the European Union who has instructed it to remove people’s personal info that is now irrelevant or offensive to them. This action has been taken upon the complaints of European citizens under the “Right to be forgotten” ruling (since 2006).

Right to be forgotten actually states that individuals possess the right to request search engines to remove material that is linked to their personal data. The conditions include that data would be removed if it is impropriate, offensive or sparse.

Initially, Google acquired an immediate action and played along the ruling since last May and launched a web page for those people, who wanted to remove their private data from the search engine. According to a close source, 174,266 requests have been filed for removing 602,479 links since May 2014 and Google has removed 58.5% (352,450 links) from Europe. The company explained that search results will be blocked entirely under the Right to be forgotten ruling, if they include the person’s name. Otherwise, if the search is made through using keywords or not mentioning the name, the browser will show the required results.

Simply then, Google was accused of misinterpreting the court decision and acting “silly political games” for deleting links of apparently harmless new articles and applying the ruling incorrectly. Some specialists gave their points of view about this matter and stated that Google has only touched off this controversy to stimulate a response from people.

Google denied all these accusations, but now it is demanding to restrict the censorship to Europe. The Google Advisory Board has decided that they would not extend the censorship efforts beyond Europe. On the contrary, EU regulators have the perspective that the Right of Being Forgotten should be applied globally and to all versions of Google. Their representatives, in November, have alleged that the internet is global so privacy of people must be made globally, but Google has aggressively indicated that it will not expand this program worldwide. It has limited the takedown requests to its European domains.

The Google Advisory Council has issued a 44 page report last week and has strongly recommended that it’ll only apply the directive to European based browsing services. It has held its decision by mentioning that 95% of search engines access local version of Google. The report also states that this right is European concept and should be applied with in Europe.

Well, this is it until now. Google still has the sheer volume of requests, but it has firmly decided to limit this so called Right Of Being Forgotten in Europe only.

PUBLIC REACTION:

This issue has divided the Media law experts and a war has started between privacy campaigners and activists of freedom of speech. Many have seen the removals as censorship and websites have put up to discover and post those links which have been withdrawn by Google under the ruling. . Google has also faced opposition from BBC and CNN for removing the searching content. There are other views that say that the court ruling is not supposed to allow people to “Photoshop their lives”.

What is Project Ara?

Project ARA can be described as development effort by Google for creating a modular-hardware system which will act as a rival for mobile apps pace, innovation level and other aspects. The name ARA phone is placed after its mechanical designer Ara. It aims at delivering mobile internet services to billions of people. Google ARA project will enable users for creating modular smartphone which is tailored to meet their aesthetic and functional preferences. It starts with structural frame work named as endo/endoskeleton and backbone data device. Users can populate endoskeleton with modules which are the building blocks making-up features and functionality of the phone. These modules can easily be inserted & removed anytime. These modules have shells or user replaceable covers as well which provide creative canvas so that users can change their phone`s look. Buying options include complete ARA-phone, additional modules or configuration of one from the scratch. This phone should not be confused with Nexus or Android products. It runs Android OS, but it is still in developmental process.

What makes it different from other phones?

This is the phone which users are free to design themselves. As it contains modular platform so users have option to pick camera they want for their phone instead of selecting phone for camera. It can also contain a sensor for testing of absence of water. You can also insert a battery which works for days. It can have an awesome speaker, gamer phone and many more things for you. You can also make it key of your car. With limitless possibilities Google ARA project is going to blow your mind. Instead of upgrading or replacing the entire phone you will have the option to upgrade its different parts when needed. This may include replacement of broken display, saving-up for high end camera etc. you can also share module with family or friends, so you don’t need to throw phone even for many years. Is there anything else you want? ARA phone provides unlimited thoughtful choices to you and you can make it a representative for your personality by adding everything of your taste.

Relationship Between Phonebloks And Project Ara

It is not a 3D printed phone but Google is working on this aspect as well and soon you will get a touch of 3D as well but not in this product. Phonebloks is based on the idea to reduce electronic-waste. In development of ARA phone the developer of phonebloks Dave`s assistance has also been obtained. So this phone will also act as an agent for reduction of electronic wastage.

When and where to purchase?

Google ARA project is an effort of development and is not official product by Google. Its launch date and price are not set yet but its availability could be expected in 2015. Cost of components for this phone falls within the range of $50 to $100. So how much will be its price, is not estimated yet. Prices for modules may vary just like mobile apps prices in the apps stores. You will also be able to buy it through carriers.

Next Step In Data Protection

Online security has always been a concern especially in cases where the information is sensitive in nature and requires to be protected. The issue can be addressed through 2 step verification process. Google USB Security Key is the next step in online security of data and other important information. It provides a strong second layer of security for Google accounts. In the current scenario, when a user enables a 2-step verification process, a verification code is messaged to the mobile phone of the user which is used as the second authentication factor. USB Security Key is a step forward, which uses a physical USB plug-in device which functions as the second authentication factor.

A Higher Level Of Security

The device is a plug-in device that needs to be plugged into the USB port of a computer. It detects and verifies whether the login site is an authentic Google site or a duplicate site faking being a Google site. Instead of typing the code, the USD Security Key is to be inserted into the computer’s USB port and the icon is to be tapped when prompted in chrome. It ensures that the cryptographic trademark cannot be phished.

Technical Specifications

Google Chrome and Google USB Security Key incorporate the open U2F protocol, or Universal 2nd Factor protocol. The protocol is within the FIDO Connections. The FIDO U2F support helps enhance security of the login systems and protect important user information such as passwords and user data. Google USB Security Key is free of charge for use with Google accounts. However, users ought to purchase a well suited USB FIDO U2F certified key device directly from a participating U2F vendor. Google USB Security Key is a highly effective security tool to protect important data. The device is simple to use and protects high level of protection.

As always Google is just trying to acquire every best idea on the earth. Today Google acquired Nest for $3,200,000,000 that’s $3.2 billion. Nest is known for two of its special products that are smoke alarm and smart learning thermostat. The main product of the company is smart learning thermostat while the other one is relatively new.

Smart learning thermostat control the temperature of your home, office or room. These are very unique and special than traditional thermostats. Users can also control these via their iPhone, iPad or iPod, i,e they can set the temperature of their home even through from their office.

Today Nest CEO write in a blog post, “Google will help us fully realize our vision of the conscious home and allow us to change the world faster than we ever could if we continued to go it alone. We’ve had great momentum, but this is a rocket ship”. Fadell also said that nest will remain its own distinct unit within Google.

Remember, two of the co-founders of the Nest are former apple employees. Fadell, who is the CEO of the nest is also known as the father of the apple’s iPod’s media player.

Moreover, managing director Shasta ventures said that “Google acquired the best hardware team of the world, this will opens up the world of new opportunities for Google”.

Google might also use this best hardware team to introduce some high end hardware in its chromebooks and Google nexus devices. What you says, what Google will do with Nest?

Everyone is talking about Nexus 10 2ND Generation but I don’t know about a single person who have heard a single word about Nexus 10 2 release directly from Google. Although this was the same situation before the release of Nexus 5 this year but there were a lot of real leaked photos and videos of the device so those rumours were legit to some extent. But when we talk about Nexus 10 2ND generation tablet then we don’t have detailed proof to tell people that its coming in the market. Everything about nexus 10 2 from shape, size to specifications is only based on rumours.

If reports are accurate then Google must release tablet within upcoming weeks as many people have already done their holiday shopping that’s why if company wants to make some real profit then it should release the device within a week or 2. The original version of the tablet was released in November 2012 and that’s why everyone was expecting the newer version in the same month on Black Friday and then on Cyber Monday but there was nothing special on these days for nexus 10 fans.

According to latest rumours its not Samsung or ASUS who is manufacturing nexus 10 2 as its LG who is working on Nexus 10 next generation. Remember LG have also manufactured Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones. If the rumours are true then Nexus 10 2 will be a 10.1 Inch tablet with 299 pixels per inch resolution, Tegra 4 quad-core or Qualcomm snapdragon 800 (like Nexus 10) processor, android kitkat, up to 32 GB storage, 2GB or 3GB RAM, 8 mega pixels camera, micro USB and a lot more. Price could be between $349 – $399 according to storage options.

If all of these features and the rumours and real then Nexus 10 2 will be the winner over iPad Air. Christmas is also near but nothing is officially announced by Google itself, so that we may not see next nexus 10 tablet this year.
